Today seen the purchase of a couple of gauge holders, a Greddy temp gauge and controller & a Greddy water sensor adaptor.
These are very cool gauges with peak recall and settable warning light. Once arrived and installed, they will look after boost pressure and water temp

After getting advice from my mate, Brian, and the chaps at PGA, the car is running again.
The CAS needed to be adjusted to get the timing right, once it was the motor was accepting revs as normal.
I’ve ordered a nice Greddy oil cap which won’t be here until April sometime, some new wheel nuts rocked up today and ordered a 2″ > 2.5″ 90 degree intercooler pipe. I plan on replacing all the injector plugs this weekend with nice new bosch items.
Pipe should be here tomorrow, then I will get an idea of when the car will make boost.
I’d considered a PWR barrel w2a intercooler, but read a few reviews says they get hot spots and don’t flow the best. This was ok as I seen the Plazaman item but now it looks like this one doesn’t flow well enough in big power applications. With this in mind it might be a new custom air to air unit unless I can some how get the ARE cooler to fit behind the Sunny ZX front bar.
Here are couple of pictures of the new gear

I got the engine finished off and running this weekend.
Unfortunately I still have the S13 temperature sender in the inlet manifold as a new hole needs to be tapped for the N13 one, something for Bri-Z Fabrication I hope. So I pretty much have no temperature guage as slightly warm reads past ‘H’ on my N13 dash.
The car seems to be alot louder out the exhaust at idle than I remember. The start up and idle were both good and trouble free. Still blowing a little bit of smoke, this might be the rings but really hoping it’s just a bit of junk being burnt off from sitting for a couple of months. The engine itself however, is a lot quieter which is great. The lifters in the last head must have been getting a bit tired.
Upon trying to load the motor up or increase the revs from idle, the car starts to make a slight back fire followed by a hissing noise. It’s been suggested to check all of the ignition which I will be doing tonight.
Looking forward to seeing what the 3071r is going to do…

I have finally got around to getting the blog back on air, it only took a year. I will have to get into the routine of updating the site again.
Last weekend saw the new UKDM CA18 head assembled and installed into the car along with a full Cometic MLS top end gasket kit. The new 3071r turbo is also fitted up and in the car.
On the upside, there are little to no parts to be bought now, just finishing off a lot of small things to return the car to running.

So this week I am on a weeks’ annual leave as I had too much leave owing at work. I picked the drive shafts up this morning and fitted them aswell; a perfect fit. I cranked the car over for the first time in a month or two aswell, was good to hear it starting to make some noise again. With any luck I will kick it back to life on the weekend and be mobile by next weekend.
This website is going to be taken down while I move it to a paid host as my upstream just can’t cope with the demands of the pictures. My current server which I built is going to be retired as a photo editing box for my partner, Jess. I am going to pick up a pair of 22″ monitors for her tomorrow too which should be a nice suprise to go with it.
Stay tuned.

Drive shafts were dropped of this morning to be modified and reconditioned.
The owner has already rang to say the Maxima ends are a match to the new Exa shafts I am using, great news. He had some bad news too, the Maxima joints which I purchased just a couple of months ago are no good so they are getting replaced again, on the upside everything will be brand new this time around and stronger.
They will be ready by the end of the week, awesome!

A productive weekend has seen the clutch plate, gearbox and new engine mounts installed.
I was supplied an incorrect gear box mount, stabilizer and gear selector from a specialist Pulsar wrecker in Adelaide which has meant two extra trips to the Gold Coast to pick up replacement parts. Pretty poor for a specialist wrecker in my eyes.
Parts suppied are all from a CA16DE model even after repeatedly requesting all parts to come form a CA18DE model.
The drive shaft place was closed yesterday, so I will be making another trip tomorrow to get the shafts reconditioned and modified so they are ready to go in. The oil return for the turbo needs to be moved about an inch to clear the new front engine support, a job for Bryzy performance I hope.
My original plates from 2000 are finally back on and much to my suprise yeilded no fee from transport to attach.

So I finally made it back out to Off the wall diner to check out the wall of fame. My name stands proudly on the board, I think my name means ‘maddog’ in Italian.
While having lunch, we got to chuckle at some clown having a go at eating the burger – he bought and added his own chilli sauce to the burger before trying it. He was laying on the ground crying with in about two minutes, this was after dry reaching and bringing up a piece of the burger and consuming it again.

I also bought and installed a new router on the weekend, it’s a few steps up from the old one. The new one does draft n and gigabit ethernet plus QoS; this was the main reason for getting him.

Clutch arrived for the car last week – I am waiting for the gearbox to come back before doing anything further with it. After it is back and fitted, just the drive shafts to be modified and we’re mobile again.
I starting to get excited; can’t wait to take it to the track.

And just like that, a week has past since the last post.
I have bought a pair of R32 GTR calipers and now chasing discs to suit. Brakes will now be 4 spot onto 296 x 32mm rotor.
Standard was a single piston on a 240 x 18 rotor.
